Spring comes in like a lion…and well…stays a lion. No lambs here. February, March, and April will prove to be the most intense months this year—with the exception of the mid-July Mars/Uranus conjunction in Taurus and October’s prelude to the election with Uranus and Pluto facilitating change in the earth signs. And how can I forget Mars is going retrograde in Leo December 5th and journeying backwards into Cancer until February 22, 2025? The king and family will not be pleased, but I hope we plebes far better!
At any rate, February begins with a testy Mars/Mercury dance—they have been hanging around together in Capricorn since the second week of January. This can cause trouble with bosses and higher-ups or cause arguments about how to accomplish tasks from a practical perspective. The key with a Capricorn Mars/Mercury conjunction is to talk everything over from a non-emotional point of view. Be detached and practical in deciding what to do. But water signs or other cardinal signs (read that “bossy”—like Aries and Libra)—might not agree with your methods, whatever they may be. Take the emotion out of it. Discuss quality vs. quantity—speed vs. thoroughness—then carry out the plan. Focus on practicality, not emotion. Let go. The solution always doesn’t have to be so personal or triggering. This may be hard for some to manage.
Nevertheless, the tiffs may happen, power struggles may ensue, and discussions may get a bit heated. Calm down, everybody. Aquarius season is coming to allow us all to detach and chillax. The only problem with that is Aquarian detachment, which happens to some degree every year, may be a little problematic for the romantic at heart—since Pluto sits at O° Aquarius and then has Mercury, Mars, and Venus parade past, all in a row. The parade past the Transformer begins February 4th when Mercury hits Pluto. 5 planets will be in Aquarius at the New Moon, and what does Aquarius want y’all to do, folks? DETACH! Right before Valentine’s Day??? This doesn’t bode well! A new Moon asking us to begin detaching might be a warning sign to those with claws and pincers.
The New Moon squares Uranus in Taurus. 2 fixed signs not having a good time of it could instigate a sudden break-up, but really, it’s not like you didn’t know—you’ve been discussing it, probably since mid-January, and then, by February 13th, may feel disempowered to change anything. I hope the conversation has continued and that the 13th doesn’t bring a ghosting.
This is followed by Venus trailing behind, running over Pluto on the 16th. Sometimes Venus running over Pluto brings in a loved one, who then quickly leaves a day or so after. What follows is a Venus and Mars tete-a-tete. Considering Mars and Venus together in the same sign often mean they “love to fight” or “fight to love,” what might occur is a struggle to keep detachment from happening. But Aquarius is still Aquarius, and although Aquarians too can be fixed –read that, firmly attached—in relationship, they like their space. They like alone time and freedom, so graspers may not have the best Val’s day this year. The key is to let go. Remember the phrase, “If you love them, set them free, and then they will come back to you.” This maxim is true. If you keep someone from their purpose, they will try harder to leave.
Let’s review the nature of Pluto. Pluto exaggerates or separates. I call it the “cross your heart bra”—it lifts, or it separates. Mercury hits it: there is heightened conversation or none at all. Mars hits it: there is lots of action or fights (or sex!) or none at all. Venus hits Pluto and there is intensified love—or none at all. Really, Pluto has these purposes when it combines with planets. When combining with the Sun, Pluto causes loss of ego, to bring folks back to reality—no more riding your high horse! Heed not this advice, and you will fall from the horse. When Pluto gets with Mercury, he says, “stop talking, and LISTEN.” If you don’t, your ability to talk will be removed—broken jaw? Gag order? Isolation? Ghosting? When Mars meets Pluto, Pluto says, don’t overdo it—don’t take action in the extremes. If you do it anyway, you may find yourself disempowered completely—fired, sick, broken—unable to act. With Venus, Pluto says, don’t obsess over love. Do so, and you may find those you love trying to get away. The lesson is, give unconditional love, and as with Aquarius, let those who love you do what they will—come to you or not—don’t push them away with your excessive love. True and unconditional love lets those they love go to do what they must; that way, they WANT to return to you to share their successes, failures, and exploits.
So Valentine’s Day, before and after, may be a little problematic this year. My advice? Get yourself a cause and send your personal love the way of others that need you. Visit a nursing home. Create a singles dinner party for your single friends. Do something fun with friends. Volunteer somewhere. Read to kids at the local library. Get a kitty or puppy that needs someone. Wave goodbye to obsession, and get a life. It will be all right. Love will find you. You can’t escape.
In astrology, every 18 months, we experience a changing of the nodal guard. This sequence in which we find ourselves now is with a North Node in Aries and South Node in Libra. We always head towards the North Node. We are coming from the South Node. The Aries/Libra pairing is about being independent in the context of a relationship, with the focus on becoming independent. And since our transiting Chiron, the wounded healer, has been in Aries since 2019 and is currently hugging the Aries North Node close, we need to heal that side of us that felt isolated and alone during the COVID years. We need to heal those parts of us that became afraid of risk, of going out in the world first, of being leaders or activists. That Chiron has been in Aries during the COVID years is appropriate, considering what we experienced, and so too, we must now move towards BEING COMFORTABLE being an independent, proactive leader. In order to heal the pain, we must do what we avoided during the crisis time, and so here we are. Perhaps now is not the time for cleaving—we just did that for the last 4 or 5 years. Many are and were absolutely sick of it. So let’s get with the program, and the program is: get out and get a life!
This Valentine’s Day detachment process, with the Pluto parade of small planets, merely serves to help us in that regard. As I said earlier, this does not mean you have to be alone. Aquarius, after all, is about being an individual within a group. The reminder is to find those of like mind or like purpose. Join the group and experience the joys of being part of a progressive (not necessarily political) collective.
The Nodes that oppose one another, and the Capricorn grouping near Pluto marching past into Aquarius, are part of a T-square—a triangle-shaped aspect with the apex at Pluto and the Merc/Mars/Venus trio—and a T-square does promise a certain measure of difficulty with this parade. So, get into the spirit of things and let go. Easier said than done, I know.
Jupiter and Uranus in Taurus will trine Dark Moon Lilith after the we give Valentine’s Day its proper salute. Lilith has her own mind. Lilith in Virgo may expect perfection, but Jupiter and Uranus may throw a wrench into that situation, so just remember that your imperfection is part of the perfection of the universe. In others, words, you may have to release your need to be right or exact or, yes, perfect. You are perfect just as you are, warts and all.
The third week of February may be a bit frustrating as Mars and Venus are still dancing together, so let’s hope this is a happy, let’s-be-free dance and not an argumentative one or, as sometimes can happen with Aquarius, a case of one-up-manship. With Saturn, Sun, and Mercury in Pisces opposing a full Moon paired with Lilith in Virgo, we are reminded not to get discouraged by our imperfections but instead to meditate on our feelings of being not-good-enough and focus on our positives instead. Know that each of us is a work in progress. We are never complete. Isn’t that the fun part? And if you say no, just think of it this way: there’s nowhere to go but UP.
The first week of March will bring a new Moon in Pisces, along with a stellium including Sun, Moon, Mercury, Saturn, and Neptune. As these planets tighten their orb to Neptune, we may know less, rather than more, about what’s going on, in our lives and in the world. Saturn will suppress water, and you can’t do that, because water squishes out to either side when you step on it. Saturn on the Sun and or Moon often create depression, because Saturn is literally a weight. Saturn represents oppression, depression, and repression, but he can also represent discipline. So Saturn in Pisces hitting those plants says: meditate, pray, and go within, THINK ABOUT IT. Neptune is the fog, the nebulous, intuition. Go with your gut, guys, at this time, because there may not be anything else to go on, and what are you going to do? Nothing? That’s the dark side of Saturn, so I say, make Saturn a friend and do what Saturn says to do : use spiritual discipline—or even inspirational art. Lilith is still on the perfection train, so ignore her. Mars and Venus begin to separate.
Pluto instead begins to sextile the planetary parade, starting with Mercury, then Neptune, then Moon and Sun. At this time, you may find you just don’t know what to say or expect. This is what I often say, shut up and let the soup cook. Keep your hands off the spice rack. Let the soup come to a slow completion until it’s ready. When it’s ready, there won’t be any doubt. But for now, leave the dang thing alone!
March is the month that brings us the Lunar eclipse on March 24th, but before we get there, we have a lull before the storm. Sun and Neptune conjoin in Pisces and can bring anything from swept-away love to creative inspiration or even cosmic oneness. Neptune’s ocean of consciousness wants to drag us in with its waves, and unfortunately for some folks, this could mean, literally—rain or waves or floods. At any rate, there is always a bit of over-the-top-ness where Neptune is involved—so double that in its own sign of Pisces. With Saturn conjunct Venus in Pisces, we may be swept by a rib tide we feel like we can’t (and maybe don’t want to) get out of. Just let me drown here, we may say, cosmically drunk on love. This is occurring around the 21st of March, just after the Spring Equinox on the 19th. Some of us will see love. Some of us will see rain and floods. Some of us will see tears, as we may have something difficult to tell partners at that time: North Node, Mercury, and Chiron (the pain point) in Aries are opposing the Libran South Node, the relationship. Are we telling someone we’re going it alone, when we really are just going somewhere with someone else? Nevertheless, this is a bittersweet time, as Saturn and Venus together sometimes herald the advent of a soulmate, but how the two finally get together may be an unknown at this time. If you find yourself in a love triangle, don’t expect to get away with anything, because while Venus in Pisces can be unbridled love, Mars is going to run after y’all, and Mars in Pisces can be unbridled anger. So, cuidado!
The lunar eclipse is in Libra on March 24/5. Not only is the South Node representative of what has passed, so too is the Moon, and this is a lunar eclipse in Libra, so a relationship may be over. The focus is on the Sun in Aries. At a world level, this means that allies may possibly split up. That romance is done, and the time is now to step out as independent and forward-thinking. But Aries is also a warrior, and in this case, a leader may decide to go his own way or go to war, or at least take forceful action based on his or her own ideals. At this eclipse, 4 planets will be in Pisces, including Mars, the soulmate or destined connection of Saturn and Venus—and then Neptune. 4 objects will be in Aries, beginning the countdown to an Arien April: Sun, North Node, Chiron, and Mercury. I think there may be an announcement of, “this is war!” or at least, “This is a battle!” After all that talk I gave about letting go, guess what? No one wants to let go! So, onward we will march! Some will fight for love, and some will fight for ideals, some for adventure. And some will take risks and get shot down. Didn’t I just say, take care, in Spanish? Now I will say it in French: ATTENTION! Then, Jupiter approaches Uranus in Taurus, and while this could mean you win the lottery, it can also topple banks or a monetary system as well as cause earthquakes, as the earth needs to release some pressure. Now, if we are a positive person or a Pollyanna, you can come up with a new recipe or invent a new technology to help save the earth. One’s consciousness is important. One’s mission is important. One’s vibration is important. So, do you give off good vibes or bad vibes?
The month will end with Pluto square Mercury—a cutting off of communication? Why? Can’t come to a perfect enough agreement? (Dang Lilith in Virgo!) However, as Jupiter, the Moon, and Uranus in Taurus all trine Lilith, the moment may be perfect enough to win the lottery. OKAY!
The first week in April brings 5 objects in Aries and an Arien New Moon. This sounds like the battle cry: the raised sword and “CHARGE!” Now this is good if you have been a slug for the last 6 months (or the last few years!) The New Moon wants you to begin something, so you can choose a new project or adventure—just reminding you that it doesn’t have to be war. But this is also a powerful eclipse, sliding across the U.S. from the Texas border to Maine, Nova Scotia, and beyond. People will feel testy and become even moreso as the month moves on and gathers more planets in Aries, once Mars enters the fray on the last day of April. With the New Moon on April 8th, we will hear Mercury & Chiron in a contentious discussion about ways to heal a problem. Emotions will be high and could rule the day. Hopefully, it’s all talk and no action, if things get too contentious. North Node says, “Let’s go!” and Venus enters Aries, a little too late to save the day. She does gain some steam as the month rolls along. Saturn suppresses Mars at this time, inhibiting action, which might be a good thing, given all the impulsivity.
This solar eclipse, if you look at it in connection with last October’s solar eclipse, makes a big cross, with the center of the cross on Eagle Pass where many of the border disputes have been. If one looks at the birth chart of Eagle Pass, this looks like an escalation here, but I will discuss that in another post. Just watch the border battles: they could loom large in April and May.
April 19th and 20thshow Jupiter and Uranus conjoining in Taurus. When Jupiter is good, he brings opportunity like new jobs, new relationships, and money. When he is being bad, he gets you fired or divorced—but even that can be good, depending on how you feel about your job or your marriage. Jupiter makes things bigger—not good if it’s a fight. Jupiter gets women pregnant and can make all of us fatter. We can get a new house or another house or a timeshare (don’t do that). So yes, Jupiter can make us move. Uranus is disruptive, at its best, ordered chaos, lightning-fast solutions or ideas pop into out heads, and new technology is helpful. At its worst, Uranus can cause earthquakes and storms that can bring one’s world down, especially in Taurus, an earth sign. When Jupiter and Uranus come together, we may find something comes tumbling down, so you can get something new. Didn’t you need a new roof, a new car, a new job anyway? Jupiter and Uranus, especially in Taurus, can unexpectedly bring money, and they, along with Neptune, are often significant in the charts of lottery winners, so let’s focus on that, shall we? But do let’s be prepared for the earth changes befitting our living areas. I live in Oklahoma, so tornadoes it is, and I have my tornado set-up (no shelter, though) but I have my tornado kit ready at all times. BE PREPARED. Buy a lottery ticket. You can’t win if you don’t play. While Taurus is slow, Uranus always brings an element of the unexpected. The duo will trine Lilith and the South Node, so maybe something or someone from the past will help you out with what to do. At any rate, they are detail-oriented and know how to rebuild after a tear-down, if you need it. Pluto is in on the trine, too, so it could be life-changing, although since Pluto squares the Sun at the same time, someone else may not be happy about it. But at least your accountant/contractor will be! 😊
May brings Taurus stuff, and Arien leaders can’t lead without troops, which Taurus provides. They will all be practical, git-er-done types, and you will like some of them, so onward and upward as you build your new life!
A May through August reading will follow, plus I will do some readings for specific places like Eagle Pass, Iran, Palestine/Israel, and possible some of my favorite cities like Houston. And, of course, I am going to look at Oklahoma weather. Know when to run; know when to hide, I always say.
