Ukraine and Russia, where did this all start? We know the commotion started long ago, when Ukraine was part of the USSR, so this is a story that stretches way back. Not to mention, the story of Putin, his rise to power, and his now-autocracy/dictatorship goes way back in time. I have written about Putin before. He was a civil servant (KGB) who basically got angry when the USSR came to an end, quite suddenly, and he was left with no one to “phone home” to from his perch in East Germany. He was smart enough, however, to worm his way into the circle of the new Russa’s leadership, including Boris Yeltsin. Yeltsin really wanted not only more openness (Glastnost), but he wanted Russia to become a modern state with more democratic principles. He did not know what evil partner he had allowed to slide into his back pocket, and the worst thing that he could have done was to make Putin president of Russia, which Yeltsin did.
Then came Putin’s opportunity to take himself to the top of the heap—in this case, of dead bodies—not only of the Russian people (Chechnya et al) but even school children. Remember the terrorist takeover of the school in Beslan in 2004 in which 330 people, mostly children, died after the botched raid to supposedly save them? That was due to Putin’s habit of showing force every time he was met with resistance of any kind, rather than attempting to negotiate or save them in another way. Even today, as we speak, Putin uses strong arm tactics on Ukraine that threaten and massacre school children every day. I am surprised we didn’t see more reprisals after Alexei Navalny’s death, in order to punish the mourners that defied Putin by SHOWING UP. Do they realize that they just made Navalny a martyr and hero for eternity, that one day there will be statues of him in Mother Russia? Putin will be known as another Stalin, but Navalny, who wasn’t perfect by any means—will always and eternally be known as a freedom hero.
At any rate—the beginning of Russia’s war with Ukraine may be said to have started in 2013. The people of Ukraine wanted to be part of the EU, as they do now of NATO, but their leader at that time, President Viktor Yanukovych, voted it down. Ukrainians protested; this was called the Euromaidan. Russia had pressured Yanukovych to reject an agreement that the Ukrainian parliament had overwhelmingly voted in favor of. Protests continued for the next year, and in February 2014, the Maidan Uprising took place in which 108 protesters and 13 police officers died. Activists headed for the parliament building where Yanukovych and his opposition leaders signed an agreement to hold new elections and create a new government. On February 22, 2014, the Ukrainian parliament voted Yanukovych OUT. Russia claimed this was a coup and went in with unmarked troops and pro-Russian separatists to annex Crimea.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian parliament restored its 2004 constitution, voted Petro Poroshenko as president and began a de-Sovietization of the country, including the banning of Russian state television. If one looks at the Russian invasion chart of Feb 27, 2014, one can see that Crimea was in a vulnerable state: Sun, Chiron & Neptune in Pisces at the Midheaven, all trine Jupiter in Cancer on the Ascendant. Jupiter always brings opportunity—and in this case, since Cancer belongs to the old and the traditional, it brought an opportunity for the old estate to come in and take over quite easily. In addition, an Aquarius Moon (Mother Russia?) and Mercury (message from afar) were sextiling Uranus at the Midheaven—the message from Mom—"Go get our wayward children!” At least, some of them, and they did! By the way, that Jupiter on the ascendant was opposing Pluto in Capricorn. Capricorn is Dad. Cancer is Mom. The parents were going to rope in their unruly children. Only problem is, they couldn’t get the whole brood. Mars in Libra was exactly conjunct the North Node in Scorpio—"our destiny is to get control”—by force, if we must. Scorpio Saturn, the oppressor, sextiled Capricorn Venus at the same time. Dad (Putin) knows best. He thinks. This is an example of so-called positive aspects (trines and sextiles) making it easy for bad things to happen. And so the separation began.
I won’t go further into the entire history of Ukraine, but I will go to where Zelensky entered the scene. Zelensky was formerly a comedic actor, the Russian equivalent of Ronald Reagan becoming president. Remember Bedtime for Bonzo—Ronnie with a chimpanzee? Or if Jon Stewart decided to become politically active—which he has. In an example of art becoming life, Zelensky was an actor in a comedy show called Servant of the People, in which a high school teacher, who rants about the corruption of leaders in his country, unexpectedly becomes president of that country. The show ran from 2015-2019. Someone actually started a political party by that name in 2018, and by 2019, Zelensky was actually running for president. He ran against President Poroshenko and won! With 73% of the vote! His goal was to END Ukrainian corruption and conflict with Russia, not make it worse, but when Russia invaded in February of 2022, Zelensky’s hands were tied. I think folks need to worry about what Putin is going to do every February, because he seems to like to start things the third week of that month. Happy Valentine’s Day, with love, Vlad.
The chart for the invasion of Ukraine is strikingly similar to that of the annexation of Crimea: Sun, Neptune, and Jupiter in Pisces at the Midheaven are sextiling Uranus again, but this time in Taurus. Venus/Mars are together at 22* and Pluto at 27*—in Capricorn—which could be the old Mom and Dad wanting to enact Big Change and finally bring the wayward children home: Saturn conjunct Mercury in Aquarius. This is “WE order you to come home! We ORDER you! We are going to punish you if you don’t!” What’s different is this: the Moon in Sag trines Chiron in Aries. The kids are going to fight for their independence from Mom and Dad, and they are going to get help from abroad.
Ukraine became a republic in the summer of 1991, as many others did, because of the fall of the Soviet Union and the Berlin Wall. Technically, it is a 0- degree Virgo with Venus/Mercury/Jupiter all conjunct at 25 Leo. Chiron is in Leo, too. Chiron in Leo is always about “I am lovable,” and anyone who knows Leo knows they are loyal to those who love them, because they want to be loved so badly! Chiron opposes that Saturn in Aquarius parent—the parent from afar. And the Leonine trio is inconjunct—a destiny configuration that’s challenging to Uranus & Neptune & North Node in Capricorn—the old guard who doesn’t like ANY uprisings against THEM! Pluto is on the ascendant of the Ukrainian republic—big change, and in Scorpio, deep and fundamental. In some ways, karmically, it almost seems like the old royalty (Leo) wants their country back—and so does everybody, except the Capricorn repressors. Ukraine has an Aquarian Moon, making it detached from the Mother—and we all know who that mother is.
Another thing to consider is Russia’s chart, of course. Because of the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the Russian birthday is also in 1991, but a few months later. We have the Leo vs.the Capricorn. Russia has Sun, North Node, Neptune, and Uranus in Capricorn at the Midheaven. They got split up, they didn’t see it coming, and they are pissed, just like Putin was! Mars and Moon are in the 8th house in Sag. This affects whence comes their money. Venus and Pluto are conjunct in Scorpio. This is an especially difficult conjunction, because Scorpions want to hold on tight, and Pluto will intensify this feeling, and yet Pluto separates. They must learn unconditional love for the others, but if they don’t, they will spend their lives trying to force love/control on the other countries that left the fold. And so, they have. This is also why Putin is even more dangerous, because he will continue to invade. This Pluto/Venus in Scorpio is obsession.
Now let’s look at the leaders, because they say, “as the leader goes, so goes the country,” and we saw what happened with DT as president if the U.S. Putin is a Libra Sun with Scorpio Rising and a Gemini Moon. So he is a good communicator and one who knows how to work the media, in much the same way as Trump does. What do Geminis do? They lie, lie, lie, so they can gaslight you later. (Forgive me, I am a Gemini rising and have had Gemini boyfriends.) Remember, we move away from our Moon to become our Sun by the Ascendant Road. So Putin will become more of a Libra, but as it see it, he is becoming more of the LAW and order type Libra, using Scorpionic control to get his way. He has Saturn, Neptune, and Mercury in the 12thhouse in Libra, which speaks to his ability to manipulate using false flags and media control—Saturn being the controller; Neptune being the illusion he wants to create—do you see why Trump idolizes him? They are communications controllers. The difference between those two, though, is that Trump came in to DISRUPT (Sun conjunct Uranus in Gemini). Putin wants back the old unification, in his view, and there was a lot of control “back in the USSR.” Putin has Pluto and South Node at the Midheaven in Leo—again, an old karmic ruler. It’s like Stalin vs. the Monarchy once again. (Leo represents kings and queens, but also celebrities like actors and actresses.) The North Node, though, is in Aquarius, and North Node in Aquarius is about detachment. I don’t think Vlad has that down yet. He can’t give up the past. No matter. The end is coming, just not right away. His Chiron is in Capricorn: what you can do for others you can’t do for yourself—and this is Cap stuff—"what am I worth?” All this is in the third house of communication. It will always be hard, and he will never be loved. Mars is in the second house of resources in Sag—money and resources and power coming from elsewhere. Jupiter is in the 7th house and is apex to the North Node/South Node-Pluto opposition—breaking up is hard to do, Vlad! All that Libra he has is about relationships and letting go, but his Scorpio pincers just won’t do it until he finally stings himself (and his country) to death. Now, apply those images to Mother Russia.
Now we’ll do Zelensky. Zelensky has an Aquarius Sun/Venus conjunction in the 9th house. Aquarians—in the United States, anyway, are often known as patriots, because they have strong ideals, as does he. He has Gemini rising, making him a good communicator, and with Jupiter there in the first house, he is lucky, too. Mars and Moon in Leo in the 3rd house of communication make him a fighter, a good orator and debater, and a lovable, beloved, and loyal-to-the-end leader. (I think I love him! <3) Saturn is in Leo in his 4thhouse—Ukraine is his home, and he is loyal to it and will never leave. Get that through your head, Vlad! Volodymyr will fight for his country until the very end. Pluto and the North Node are in Libra in the 5th house. He wants peace and democracy for his children. Vlad, if you just did the same for YOUR children, instead of wanting to control them, you’d be loved, too. But you know what they say? The more you hold on to someone, the more they want to GET AWAY!!! His Mercury is in the 8th house, yes, aways asking for money. In fact, his pain point, Chiron has to do with money—he requests money from the whole world, because he must. What he can do for others (his people), he can’t do for himself. However, this is the sign, Taurus, of responsibility and good stewardship of money—that he must learn it to be effective and successful. I’d say, he’s getting that lesson in spades.
Transiting Pluto is now approaching his Sun. This usually lifts people way up or collapses them to dirt. Time will tell if this will lift him further up or bring him down. I hope not the latter. Right now, he doesn’t know if he is going to get anything from the “community”—the world. He can only pray and have hope and faith that they will stick by him. He has been battling with those he loves—the USA?—and it’s affecting him—depressing, to say the least. But he still has hope. And he won’t quit fighting or asking. I think the April 8th solar eclipse will bring him the backing he needs, and then he will be all systems go—the battle is back ON! Seems like something really good will happen at the end of August, but then there is a lull or retreat—not in his mind of fighting, but simply, the end of the war—which may seem in sight at the end of August—will retreat from view—but only temporarily. He is destined to free his country, and he will, with the help of other countries. When Jupiter on his ascendant ends its retrograde motion in February of 2025, perhaps we will see the end of this war. I do hope that this happens without him getting wounded. I do worry about that in August, as well.
What do Putin’s transits say? Not so good. The Jupiter/Uranus conjunction in Taurus in mid-April is right on his Jupiter. This could not only hurt him monetarily (sanctions?) but could actually send him into the wild blue yonder—or shall we say, the raging fires and earthy depths of hell? Jupiter is known for releasing folks to the “other side.” And with the volatile combo (earthquake-style) being right on his Jupiter, he is in danger. There may be another attempt at a coup or an attempt to assassinate or replace him. At any rate, his so-called “partners” are involved. Chiron the pain point is in his 6th house of Aries (the head) opposing his Saturn, and this is not a good sign for his health. He was already having problems in recent years when it opposed his Sun, but Saturn puts the pressure on. Headaches, much? Remember, the North Node is right now conjunct Chiron in Aries, and the South Node is on his Sun, so he has been here before. Could karma come home to roost? If he does, he still receives hit after hit—Mars hitting Uranus near his Jup and Moon in early July. Transiting Mars & Jupiter join in Gemini. Mars hits his natal Uranus in early October for a birthday surprise. Mars retrogrades in Cancer in his beliefs house—he just won’t let go, but once Mars hits that Uranus or even his Pluto later in a final blow, I think it’s over for Vlad. To me, this is likely a scene reminiscent of Gaddafi and Saddam Hussein. His own people are going to be very pissed and may take it out on him. He had better hope somebody offs him earlier, because this does not look pretty for Vladmir Putin.
Russia is a conservative, traditional nation with all that Capricorn, but its people are tired of being broke and oppressed, and they are tired of war. As Mars enters its 12th house, Mother Russia is thinking now of revolution herself. The eclipses and the strong activation of Aries in that 12th house—all opposing Libran Putin indicates that an inside job is apt with his Saturn in Aquarius—this is already being discussed and will take that autocrat out. What will be left behind, who will know? Russia is a Capricorn nation—old when young, young when old—with Taurus rising—think of all the beauty of the ballet and the writing and music from there—and Moon in Leo. (royal roots) Transiting Pluto has just left its tenth house and is HUGE CHANGE and forward movement being FORCED upon them, Saturn in Aquarius. Mother Russia is about to get a long needed and long-awaited makeover. Oh, Lord, I hope so! Jeane Dixon always said, “Look to Russia, and as Russia goes, so will go the world.” She meant that in a positive way.
As for Ukraine, this country has always had Pluto on its ascendant, which is about death and rebirth. Uranus in opposition to it is about to leave, and Jupiter will replace it. I think this could be a rebirth—I think the Jupiter/Uranus conjunction in Taurus could bring Ukraine’s freedom more quickly than we think. Perhaps the eclipses will kick all of this into gear, but I think a lot has to do with saying goodbye to Vladimir Putin. Transiting Neptune will oppose Ukraine’s Mars, and the unseen force of God (and karma) can obviously be a game-changer. Transiting Pluto hits natal Saturn in Aquarius, and I read this as Pluto releasing them from oppression and war. At any rate, the money will start to flow in August, and Ukraine will be admired and loved by all. Let’s all pray that this foretells the end or at least the closing chapter of this awful war. Okay, God. Now, do Trump and the good ole USA.
