Cities and towns have birthdays, just like people do, and from these birthdates, astrology charts can be constructed to tell the “life path”—and weather—of a specific place. I have been interested in predicting weather patterns using astrology since I lived in Houston and saw the dramatic charts connected with New Orleans and Hurricane Katrina. I was also influenced to get OUT of Houston before the big hurricanes hit there, which of course, they did in the ensuing years. Meanwhile, I moved to Oklahoma, with its own yearly danger zones, in the form of tornadoes. So, I have been reading about weather for my Houston area friends and others ever since 2005, and I have seen enough to know when to get out of town—literally—or at least, not to move somewhere in particular.
Countries also have birthdates, and astrologers can look at these to see what will happen in a nation, just as we do with people. We typically use 12noon as an exact time, and birthdates originate from constitution, incorporation dates, or even other major civil changes in a city or country, like the opening of a post office. Just like we can use a birth chart to see the health or disease of an individual, we can look at a country’s birth date or Independence Day to look for weather anomalies.
In view of the recent unusual floods in Dubai, we can look to see if the event was caused by “seeding clouds,” as has been suggested, or was simply a disastrous weather event, due to climate change. I have watched cities for many years, most notably Houston, because I lived there, New Orleans—due to Hurricane Katrina—and it’s a favorite city of mine, as well as New York City, ever since 911, and Oklahoma City, since I now live in Oklahoma and have many friends in the city, although I am outside of it. In Houston, I looked for hurricanes, and I moved out before the bad ones came. (Yes, I knew they were coming.) In the case of OKC, I watch for tornadoes around it an the surrounding towns. (I know which towns to avoid.)
I have been meaning to write this article before the big storms hit, but unfortunately, nearly 30 tornadoes hit the broad area of Oklahoma on April 27th, 2024, causing death and destruction in 3 different towns, flattening the downtown area of Sulphur, and inducing every single person I know across the state of Oklahoma to head for their tornado shelters on that day. Most of us survived but got a decent scare; others experienced devastating losses that will never be forgotten, and four people died related to this extreme but yearly weather events.
That said, I will begin with Sulphur, Oklahoma and discuss what happened there from an astro-perspective. Sulphur has two birth charts, one for when its post office was opened and one for when it was voted the County Seat. Of these two, the post office chart is more accurate. I often find that if a town is not incorporated, using the date of the post office opening works, because that designates an official place to receive federal documents. Sulphur is a Sagittarius town with Merc in Sag and South Node in Sag. Known for its sulfur springs, Sulphur was once a famous spa town, and its hotel, the Artesian, once destroyed and then rebuilt to its former glory, is a major landmark in that city. Keep in mind that Sagittarius is a sign symbolized by centaurs—the healers, teachers, and sportsmen of the zodiac. A part of the Chickasaw nation, Sulphur was well known as both a resort and convention center at the turn of the 20th century, To see its downtown area destroyed in one fell swoop is devastating to say the least, as well as the loss of life there and in several surrounding towns.
The post office chart shows the transiting Mars/Neptune conjunction Pisces (unbound force and water) connecting with the town’s Pisces Moon and Pisces Saturn on Lilith (black Moon, the shadow) and North Node. Note how the North Node or life purpose of the town relates to Pisces—WATER—and the town was known for its healing waters. It always will be; that is its purpose, but now, the town requires new healing of its own. The Chickasaw nation, a rich Indian nation, has promised to help in the rebuilding process, and the Artesian Hotel, which survived the hit, has promised to be a supportive home base for the cleansing of debris and the reconstruction.
The South Node, which indicates something having happened before, revisited exactly the town’s pain point, Chiron, and Mars—in Libra. Libra can indicate a leveling, and in this circumstance, it was literal. Taurus Jupiter/Uranus was in the orb for an opposition to the birth Uranus in Scorpio. (Water disruption) Another fascinating thing is Scorpio represents liquids underground—like oil, lava—or water—and the Chickasaw nation is known for its many underground springs and aquifers. In fact, there’s a lot of fighting over those wellsprings, as you can imagine, but the tribe holds tight. Sulphur is a Libra town—indicative of the resort/healing reputation of its history—but it also has Mercury, Saturn, and Uranus in Scorpio, which indicates a bit of pressure and volatility beneath the surface. Perhaps some geologists or ecologists might know more of the story about what is going on underground in Sulphur that might explain this pressure and need for release. The Jupiter/Uranus in opposition points to a need for release or change in the earth there. Mother Nature is in control; we are not.
Another interesting astrological observation is that the tornado hit at the time the transiting Vertex conjoined the birth Vertex/Jupiter of Sulphur. The Vertex is a quick-moving point, related to the intersection of the ecliptic and the prime vertical, two imaginary points in the celestial sphere. This intersection becomes a trigger point for destiny and significant events. The transiting Vertex moves every hour, much faster than the Moon (about 1 degree per hour) or even the Ascendant (which changes every two hours—in other words, the zodiac signs shift every two hours). The tornado hit the town as the transiting Vertex hit the birth Jupiter/Vertex conjunction in Leo. A Leo vertex next to Jupiter in a money house indicates basically a “lucky,” prosperous place that craves (and probably deserves) attention. Unfortunately, this disaster points to a destined moment in history for the town to be flattened and reborn, as it has done in the past. How sad that this must be so, but Mother Nature is not an emotional or compassionate force. She brought us in, and she can take us out. Sulphur will rise again as the healing, resort town it was always meant to be.
Oklahoma as a state is a Scorpio state with a Scorpio Mercury at the mid-heaven and an anaretic (29degree) Capricorn rising—testifying to the secrets and chitchat that go on behind closed doors around here, plus the intensely old-guard male-oriented boy’s club that is all about the money—for them. One thing I will say is that, Oklahoma, even Oklahoma City, is very different from places like Houston, where everything is fast and dog-eat-dog. This is a farm state, and things move slowly. You can’t make the wheat –or the cattle—grow any faster than Mother Nature allows—if you try, you end up with NADA. In Houston, everything revolves around money, work, the machinery of a large city, but Oklahoma and OKC (a Cancer city) are family oriented. Unfortunately, this paternalistic, misogynistic state wants to keep our females barefoot and pregnant, down on the farm. No wonder Mother Nature is wreaking her vengeance. Oklahoma’s Aries Moon—very macho-male, is conjunct Sedna—the daughter whose Father wanted to force marriage on her to some ugly old friend/coot. In the end, Sedna said, EFF THIS! So the old boy’s club might get a surprise one of these days when Sedna revolts and says, “I’d rather die than marry my rapist or Pa’s best friend!” And ker-blooey! OKC’s Cancer Sun may shine the light on the Maiden-Mother-Crone trinity, one of these days, if the girls get tired enough of dying due to anti-female health care created by white men. (However, this IS the state where State Senator Connie Johnson put forth a bill that stated: “any action in which a man ejaculates or otherwise deposits semen anywhere but in a woman’s vagina shall be interpreted and construed as an action against an unborn child.”) Also, is it any wonder that Oklahoma City will now have constructed the tallest building (and tornado/plane/bomb target) scheduled to break ground this spring, a testament to the “I will show you that I have the biggest dick” mentality that still survives around here? I ask, can’t we just go back to big cars like the old, long and lean Cadillacs of their day? How about it?
With Pluto now in Aquarius, right on Oklahoma’s Ascendant, there are bound to be huge changes coming to the state and its main cities. But the state is having a second house (money and resources) Saturn return in Pisces. This will put a pinch on the money flow—after the nice boost the marijuana industry gave the state. I’m pretty sure the grifters, including Stitt and a number of his cronies, as well as former crony and BarBQ king Ron Swadley & crew, will find a way to put us back in the red. Or Mother Nature may. The insurance companies are already canceling insurance policies because of the huge damages which they are having to shell out, due to storm damage. In addition, the second half of May looks disastrous as transiting Uranus goes into an exact opposition to Oklahoma’s birth Sun, and Mars crosses the Sedna/Moon conjunction in the home base. Oh yeah, Mom is going to be mad, and this won’t be pretty. Mars and Jupiter connect with fixed star Algol, female passion and intensity, in mid-July—Bastille Day, in fact—so let’s see what Momma has to say then…Off with their heads? (I have to ask, which head? ;) Mars/Jupiter on birth Pluto in 3rd week of August will bring either a surprising announcement or release/quitting/firing. Could be good or bad, but considering the planets will be in Gemini, this usually means wind—but in the heat of summer? Then, Mars opposes the birth Uranus in late September—a Cancer/Capricorn issue (water/earth), with Jupiter following in May of next year—this will be the announcement of the city losing something…we’ll see what. Early October could see huge water events and early March of 2025, snow.
One thing to be mentioned: The transiting Jupiter/Uranus conjunction in Taurus will bring a lot of changes and rebuilding and renewal to many folks and towns and locales, especially if it affects a money house.
Oklahoma was admitted to the union after being “Indian Territory” in November of 1907. Technically, the tribes still own most of the state, so it still is. A Scorpio state, this is symbolic of the liquids under the surface in the image of Scorpio, including oil—and water aquifers. Mars and Chiron in Aquarius indicate it as a water carrier and a healer state. Currently, Pluto is on the state’s Ascendant, indicating slow but major changes, which we will clearly see in 2026, once you begin to read the astrology below. Jupiter and Uranus in Taurus in the 4th house will transition to Gemini in 2026, and so the state will be talked about, A LOT. The state is having a Saturn in Pisces Return, indicating a 30-year new era, beginning NOW.
Weather by the towns: (If your town is not listed here, and you want to know more, please contact me at booklady@astrotracker.com, and I will look it up and add it.)
Ada is under fire throughout May and through about June 10th for weather issues. June seems especially difficult. The Jupiter/Uranus conjunction is hitting crucial spots in the where-money-comes-from area (8th house)—and Mars hitting the town’s vertex point in June should bring a surprise. Pray for good change and positive new money partners for this town.
Ardmore is part of the Chickasaw nation and became famous as an oil town. It was founded in 1890 but burned to the ground completely in 1895, due to a fire at a livery stable that got out of control. That is the most exact birth date we have. Transiting Pluto is currently on Ardmore’s descendant, promising a gradual but fundamental change occurring for the city. Transiting Saturn in Pisces is currently on its North Node/destiny and squaring birth Pluto/Neptune/AntiVertex, in Libra, which could literally level parts of the town. In August, something intense is happening as transiting Jupiter and Mars conjunct birth Neptune/Pluto in Libra. Hope it’s not another fire, although fires seem to be a repeat in its history. At least, in August, it’s not likely to be caused by tornadoes.
Barnsdall is a tiny town in Osage County, originally named Bigheart for its Osage Chief James Bigheart. The Pisces Sun attests to its vulnerability, conjoined by South Node and Mercury. I have added this town as of May 8th as I post this to my website, because the town was devastated by an EF-4 tornado on May 6th at around 10pm. 35 houses were flattened with major destruction to the nursing home. One person died, and one is still missing. In the chart, transiting Saturn the oppressor/repressor/depressor sits on the town’s Sun, crushing it with water/wind. Transiting Aries Mars/Pisces Neptune sit on both birth Sedna & Lilith, a classic “I’m not going to take this sh** anymore” indicator. Transiting Aries Chiron/Mercury are on its birth Venus/Jupiter. This place will be talked about and healed, testifying to Pluto on the Gemini Ascendant, causing a great transformation coming from COMMUNICATION about this place. Transiting Jupiter/Uranus in the 10th house opposing Mars also signifies a karmic release of energy here. I hope this event helps this town rebuild and come back better than it’s ever been. (I’m telling you, Mother Nature is pissed, and Karma is calling in its cards.)
Bartlesville, named after the son-in-law of a Delaware Indian chief, is now known chiefly as the home of the Phillips Oil and is situated at the borderline of the Washington/Osage Counties. It is a Capricorn Sun city with Taurus rising and Gemini stellium of Mars/Pluto/Neptune/Moon in the 2nd house. (Has/had a lot of money; didn’t/doesn’t know what to do with it.) Currently, the town has Mars/Neptune on Sedna in the 12th—karmic situation, taking advantage of the vulnerable—and transiting North Node/South Node exactly on the AntiVertex/Vertex respectively, making this a significant time in its history and future. Transiting Jupiter/Uranus are opposing its Uranus/Saturn in Scorpio, causing a world of hurt soon that will cause a buckling down, watching finances, and signifying a necessity for new business partners. (This town was hit by an EF-4 tornado on May 6th, 2024 at around 10pm as the transiting Ascendant opposed the Mars/Pluto stellium, signifying there was nothing they could do.)
Edmond is due for a hit right now. Wow. Transiting Aries Moon/Mars and Pisces Neptune on the city’s Sun/Sedna/Mars. Can’t be good. Transiting Sun/Jupiter/Uranus/Sedna on the town’s community Moon/Neptune/AntiVertex/Pluto. This looks like flooding. Change needs to happen. Sometimes bad events force it. Houston hasn’t listened, but what the hay? Hopefully, Edmond will. There’s been a lot of building going on.
El Reno is a town directly in the line of old Tornado Alley. On May 31, 2013, a direct hit destroyed Canadian Valley Technology Center and killed 4 storm chasers and 17 other people from floods as well as the tornado, which was massive. This year, sad to say, looks like El Reno may be in the line of fire again, even though most storms of late have started to go more southerly. Transiting Jupiter/Uranus is hitting birth Pluto and Vertex of El Reno, which is, as I already said, a crucial spot in any chart. The Aries Mars/Pisces Neptune conjunction is hitting vulnerable birth Sedna right now. The Chiron return in Aries may be saying, get thee to the city’s tornado shelters, guys. Thanks to the CVTECH re-build, the new building now has the best tornado shelters in the country—three of them, complete with bathrooms and food. The town heard the call after the destructive 2013 tornado and built multiple shelters in town. We pray they won’t be needed.
Enid is home to Vance Airforce Base and is approaching a Jupiter return in the first degree of Gemini (wind) with Sedna/Sun/Venus attending during the last week of May. Neptune is in a departing orb of an opposition to Enid’s Sun in Virgo. There is a grand trine between the AntiVertex in the Capricorn second house, Mars in Virgo, and Uranus in Taurus, which can definitely bring destruction, to be followed by rebuilding. Transiting Mars/Chiron in Aries are directly on the town’s North Node/life purpose, indicating the town is due to get bigger and more important. Again, although it is under fire as I speak, the end of May looks worse, and even greater changes are due to occur due to water and wind in 2026. That year looks to be a big year.
Guthrie, a quaint town with a great bluegrass festival and a former capital of Oklahoma, may receive a hit around the third week of May, as Mars hits its Sun and opposes its birth Uranus in Libra. I’d venture to say that at 6:30pm, the Vertex and AntiVertex will straddle birth Jupiter in Capricorn (costing money) and birth Chiron in Cancer—possibly indicating a karmic debt needing to be paid.
Hennessey is a cute little town that is slowly improving. They have a great library and a lovely wine and chocolate festival every fall. In early July, there will be a water/wind event, and the birth and transiting Vertex/Anti-Vertex points are straddling each other in opposition at that same time, indicating something destined. They are in Leo/Aquarius, so the town could get on the map around July 4th. Just like many places in Oklahoma, 2026 looks like a significant year for Hennessey.
Jones has transiting Mars in Aries on their birth Saturn, AntiVertex, Sedna, and Ascendant. This could be fires from lightning strikes and power outages. They may not get as big a hit as other places.
Kingfisher (my town, the birthplace of Sam Walton and former state capital,) has Mars hitting birth Sedna, but the Uranus punch is mainly emotional. Jupiter/Uranus are squaring the town’s Saturn and AntiVertex in the 12th house. A karmic event? Might we lose something historical? I really think Kingfisher is okay but will step up to help others. We were more in danger last week, when we did indeed have a tornado west of town and had to take shelter for the first time in many years.
Midwest City has transiting Pluto on its birth Mars, which usually indicates a slow building of the town but could also stop it entirely. Midwest City is growing as it is near Tinker Airforce Base. Other aspects look decent. MWC will have other major changes in upcoming years (soon), but I think they are okay right now.
Moore has had its share of tornado misery. On May 20, 2013, a humongous tornado swept the plains and destroyed much of east Moore, including a school where 75 children awaited its arrival. 212 people were injured, and 24 died, including nearly a dozen schoolchildren. 2013 was not a good year. Fortunately, Moore looks safe this year. They understand and lend a helping hand to those in need, now.
Mustang may have some quick spin-ups, but I think they are mostly safe. They have had other local problems, mainly with the schools and teachers.
Norman hasn’t been good of late, and now I know why. Slow-moving transiting Uranus on its Sun in Taurus, causing ongoing disruption of hail damage, mold in the brand new library, a “swatting” attack, and, here we go, tornadoes. Jupiter wants to bring more new things to Norman. My prayers are for this town.
Okarche has been told by Native Americans that it is a sacred place and will not be hit by a tornado. Is it sacred because of Eischen’s (oldest bar and best fried chicken in the state) or because it really is sacred? It’s close to Concho, where the buffalo roam on Cheyenne-Arapaho nation lands. I will be buried there, atop a hill in a cemetery out on the lone prairie, because I love it there. My parents and I were once hunkering down for a storm headed directly for us in Okarche, and at the last second, it veered east and took a right hand turn and missed us. I will never forget sitting on the back porch with my folks, listening to the birds telling each other all about it and how we just missed it. A forever memory. Okarche is good for now, but incoming years will still feel Mother Nature’s wrath in 2026. No one really escapes her forever. We are part of her.
Oklahoma City usually only gets hit on the periphery but does get flooding. OKC will have its time around the same period as Okarche, 2026. Some of this upheaval will have to do with building, but when Neptune gets in the mix, there is no escape from water damage. With all the building, the flooding may get worse. Guys, please learn a lesson from Houston. No more concrete.
Ponca City, a Kansas border city, has had transiting Neptune/Mars opposite its birth Sun/Mercury/Mars, and it has been regularly receiving the attention of severe storms this year, even as early as it is, and this pattern is not over. Transiting Mars will then oppose its birth Saturn and South Node in Libra. The transiting South Node is on the town’s Saturn, which indicates something happening that happened before. We know Libra is air and has to do with leveling, so that’s a bit scary. Ponca is having a Jupiter return as well, so perhaps a rebirth is coming. This town has changed names and re-envisioned itself before, so I hope that’s where we are going with this.
Seminole has transiting Pluto, transformational change, on its Ascendant and Uranus/Jupiter opposing its Sun. I’ve already said that it takes a while to get Uranus to move, so I fear Seminole will get some damage now and in the ensuing years. Seminole is also having a Saturn return in its money and resources area, so rebuilding and restructuring of many kinds need to take place. On the bright side, with the re-building will come a new 30-year era of growth for this town.
Stillwater, one of our university towns, is having a transiting Uranus/Jupiter square to its Saturn (the teacher) at the Midheaven. This certainly indicates some difficulties with earthquakes and lightning strikes causing problems. 2026 will bring wind damage and more. I just don’t want to be around in 2037 for its Libra Uranus square transiting Uranus involving Cancer and hitting birth Chiron, which will also be its Saturn return. I think that, in the end, it may turn out well but will take many years to repair. That looks like a big one. ☹
Tahlequah will have some wild water/hail events coming, but with Jupiter/Uranus in its first house and a lot of underground Aries elements, I’m wondering if earthquakes aren’t more of an upcoming issue. We shall see.
Tulsa just went through its Pluto on Sun transformation and now has Chiron in Aries on the Ascendant and Uranus in the first house, with a Jupiter return about to happen. Jupiter is always about change and growth, and Uranus is about revolution. Tulsa schools are having their battles with Mr. Crazypants Ryan Walters, and they will continue, but Tulsa, like Lilith, will say, “Not today, Ryan!” Or, ever! Tulsa’s reputation is going to change dramatically and will be seen as a forward-thinking city and maybe even a healer city. With Uranus and Chiron where they are, I can’t discount power outages and disruptions, but generally, Tulsa looks okay. Tulsa is having a rebirth.
Watonga has a date of existence earlier than the land run by several days. Since the post office opened that year, I will use that date as the birthdate. Watonga used to be famous for its cheese and cheese festival but sadly has crumbled to nothing in recent years. Something fiery may occur between the second and third week of May that is significant, and there could be earthquake trouble as transiting Uranus hits its North Node. I hope something good happens for this town to enable its rebuilding into the cute town it could be. The first week of June could bring a significant wind/water event as well.
Weatherford is a college town—the agricultural location of OSU. Its summertime birthday is bringing down some challenging weather—probably fires and wind—beginning in July and continuing onward into next year. Constant rebuilding and growth due to damage look imminent for this town. Delays as Mars goes retrograde over the Christmas holidays and into the new year while Jupiter—trying to bring growth, moves retrograde too, and will cause frustration for the townspeople. This is only the beginning of upheaval and major change—much of it slow and frustrating—to take place in Weatherford over the next 3-5 years. Weatherford wants to be a big fish in a small pond, and it is straining to get there. Weather and fire issues and infrastructure problems, plus changes in the educational system may delay and irritate those involved and, of course, those living and going to school there. The town will get there. It will take many years, but it will gain the reputation it has craved.
Woodward has the same birthday as Enid and Ponca City. It has had transiting Neptune/Mars opposite its birth Sun/Mercury/Mars, and it has been regularly receiving the attention of severe storms this year, even as early as it is, and this pattern is not over.
Yukon is also an Aquarian town having a rebirth of sorts. But transiting Aries Mars is going to make his might apparent in May and the first week of June. With Jupiter on the Ascendant, there will be growth and issues attending to water because of Neptune. Perhaps those with Neptune in the 12th house need to look at their plumbing/water delivery infrastructure. This is true of Tulsa, too. Also, with the building going on, flooding may become more of an issue as well.
